![]() We’ve performed in a number of churches at funerals, weddings, carol concerts and light a candle services. We’ve performed in music venues, pubs, community halls and in the open air. We’ve featured drums and guitar on a couple of occasions. And we’ve collaborated with other musicians: brass bands, percussionists, recorder players and other choirs. We’ve performed for a variety of charities and community events. After one performance, a surprised audience member was overheard to say: ‘They’re like a proper choir, but more fun.’ I don’t know what her expectations of us or her experience of other choirs had been, but it feels like we should wear the comment as a badge of pride. The sense of fun, though, does seem to show through to our audiences. They will be working on something quite complex and suddenly it all slots into place and there’s a beautiful sound.’ Greg again: ‘Sometimes the people in the choir seem to surprise themselves. But equally, there has been the joy of us suddenly mastering something, out of the blue it seems, that we could have been expected to find difficult. There have been times when Greg (I suspect many musical directors will recognise this) has wanted to tear his hair out because we’ve had trouble with something that should have been straightforward. ![]() There have been times when we’ve struggled, when things haven’t turned out quite right. Of course, as with any choir, it hasn’t all been plain sailing. Greg has gone on record as saying: ‘There’s a continuous enthusiasm and sense of fun from the members that makes the choir a pleasure both to listen to and to be part of.’ What hasn’t changed over the years, is that we still get to have fun, too. Fortunately, though, we were lucky enough to find Jennifer Demicheli, an experienced musician in her own right and an excellent accompanist and assistant musical director. After seven years, sadly, Peter moved on. So, we’ve learned a lot, come a long way and things have changed. Over time we’ve developed and broadened our repertoire so that it covers pieces that range from Greensleeves to Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’, taking in spirituals, Christmas numbers, Bowie, Gershwin, Lloyd Webber, Leonard Cohen, Billy Joel, Abba and the Beatles along the way. Gradually, with Greg’s help and the help of Peter Colby (who at the time was our accompanist and assistant musical director), we’ve evolved from a unison choir into one that takes six part harmonies (almost) in our stride. He has since said, ‘I knew from the moment I first heard the choir that it had the potential to be something quite special.’ So much so, that we eventually reached the point where John felt that if we wanted to develop further, we needed to make use of the services of someone with more professional musical skills.įortunately, with John’s help, we found the person we needed, in the form of Greg Watson, an accomplished and versatile musician and musical director who has a talent for making learning fun. With John’s help, we began to evolve into a choir rather than a group of people who just got together to have a sing song. ![]() Somehow, though, it started to come together. ![]() Some of us hadn’t sung as part of a choir before some had quite a bit of experience in other choirs. We were led initially by John Fletcher, an expert on the history of nearby Clumber Park and an amateur musician. It wasn’t always like that, though.īased on the edge of north Nottinghamshire, close to the Derbyshire and South Yorkshire borders, it all began when a group of people from the local U3A got together in November 2011 just to sing. We are now an independent community choir with a wide repertoire of music and experience of performing in a variety of circumstances and venues. In the course of our short existence, though, we’ve come a long way. As choirs go, The Musicality Singers is relatively new.

![]() ![]() "Where the series goes next is impossible to tell until Legion’s public reception becomes clear but we hope that whatever city it fixates on next time it’s used as something more than just a new backdrop to the same old gameplay. Legion is obviously similar to previous Watch Dogs games but its bland competence also reminded us of Days Gone, with characters that are never changed by anything that happens to them and gameplay so derivative and repetitive you can almost play it on autopilot. Metro - 6/10: "It’s good to see any game, especially one from Ubisoft, address such issues but Legion does it in such a superficial and charmless manner it never really registers. Whether you’re controlling a trained super spy or a gassy grandmother, Watch Dogs: Legion is a ton of fun." "Between the fun team-building, fantastic mission design, strong narrative, and a gorgeous world, everything comes together in a largely entertaining and cohesive package. I was a big fan of Watch Dogs 2 and even a bit of Watch Dogs 1 defender. ![]() GameInformer - 9/10: "Legion feels like the realisation of the hacker fantasy the first Watch Dogs tried to capture. Watch Dogs Legion’s first DLC brings back old characters in a shorter and better adventure than the main game. In stark contrast to how this series started out, Watch Dogs: Legion doesn’t just make grand and ambitious promises- it actually lives up to them." "Its play as anyone mechanic is genius in its premise and impressive in its execution, hiding a ridiculous amount of depth that you can get lost in for dozens of hours. Gamingbolt - 9/10: "Watch Dogs: Legion is definitely the best game in the series so far- and dare I say, one of the most engaging and inventive open world games I have played in years. Legion is technically a little rough, but its sandbox-style approach is a good idea that sets Watch Dogs’ moment-to-moment gameplay even further apart from the GTA series." "On top of that, the map is detailed and loaded with environmental puzzles to solve with a little help from your drones. "There’s enough variety in the way different characters play to make that a good tradeoff for not having one traditionally progressing character with a fleshed-out personality, and playing with permadeath enabled ratchets up the tension of infiltrating heavily guarded areas. IGN - 8/10: "Watch Dogs Legion takes Ubisoft’s open-world hacker series in an interesting new direction by letting you swap between the inhabitants of a near-future London almost at will. "If anything, that's as powerful a message for the game as you can get." "One of Legion's more profound messages is about what it means to be a true Londoner, and by the game's end, you'll have a DedSec crew made of wildly diverse and disparate citizens from unique cultural, ethnic, and economic backgrounds - all united in their goal to restore their home. It also bolsters the franchise's clever hacking gameplay to offer more creativity than ever. Gamespot - 8/10: "Watch Dogs: Legion is an anti-fascist game, and it's admirable that it sticks to that message and sees it through to a satisfying and affirming conclusion. ![]() 'It's better than the original!' But this time, Nightdive is apparently really sure it’s coming out, and based on the demo released on Steam in February, I’m excited. Set on a space station enslaved by a rogue AI and overrun by robots, mutants, and cyborgs, this “immersive simulation” game-designed to allow open-ended problem solving and gameplay decisions within a first-person shooter shell-has been in remake development hell for years. System Shock’s 1994 PC release sold only modestly well, but it would prove to be one of the most influential first-person games of all time, directly inspiring (and employing some of the creative leads of) games like BioShock, Deus Ex, 2017’s Prey, and countless other games. After around 40 hours with the game, I’m still only scratching the surface, as I’m constantly pulled between progressing the story and clumsily attempting to get my Hylian degree in mechanical engineering. It’s frequently impressive if not always predictable, but there’s also a Zelda game here, with a sweeping story that remixes and refines the themes and story beats that the series has become known for. Tears of the Kingdom brings the problem-solving inventiveness of games like Minecraft and Fortnite to Zelda, to always-surprising effect. This lets you combine weapons into new tools and attach ingredients to your arrows for wild new effects, and it also allows you to construct vehicles of many, many shapes, sizes, and uses. Tears of the Kingdom builds on the giant open world full of exploration and experimentation that 2017’s Breath of the Wild brought to The Legend of Zelda by introducing a powerful building system. If you use social media at all, we probably don’t need to tell you that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is here. ![]() Kickresume is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) application, so it’s accessible only through a web browser. Despite offering traditional designs to appeal to conservative users, the company has an affinity for templates in line with modern sensibilities. Why does Kickresume make a strong case for why it’s a good resume maker? It’s because it has no shortage of job-landing resumes and cover letters to show for it. While this tool doesn’t offer insight into resume optimization for essential keywords, using it is the surest way to mention the credentials Indeed thinks matter most. Notwithstanding Indeed Resume Builder’s constraints on creativity, it’s certainly one of the top free resume builder tools for current and would-be Indeed users. It comes with a quiz that will ensure that the feedback aligns with your career goals. If you opt for this service, you’ll get a 10-minute resume review within two to five days. But you could get professional feedback for $19. This completely free resume builder offers no personalized tips along the way. If you add it to your Indeed account, you can use the document as the basis of your profile and will be able to generate a shareable link to it. With it, you can download your resume in PDF with or without putting any personal information on it. Also, you can choose from 6 fonts and 11 accent colors. You can tweak the Indeed resume format a little by toggling the visibility of certain sections. But you still have some latitude in making your personality shine in the draft. The tool’s templates may contain nothing but traditional resume elements. The nuances between them are noticeable through the icons, so a comparison of styles shouldn’t be a major issue. It’s a small number, but we’re confident that there’s still more to come once the official rollout of the software transpires. The Indeed Resume Builder free templates are limited to eight: Clean, Minimalist, Simple, Creative, Executive, Modern, Overline, and Boxed. But since you don’t have to fill a minimum number of sections, the procedure doesn’t have to be that laborious. Basically, you have to create your resume from scratch. Indeed Resume Builder doesn’t have the option to upload an existing document. This Indeed resume pricing model may remain unchanged in the future since it encourages more job seekers to join the job board, which can translate into more profits. ![]() Thanks to Indeed’s pay-per-click revenue generation model, the company can afford to roll out its resume creation software without a fee. Since navigation of Indeed mobile apps don’t require sign-up, you may be able to use the for-guest tool without using a browser in the future. However, most rarely touched on Indeed CV Builder, which is a different tool and accessible only by registered site users. The song hits its prime when it makes fun of stereotypically happy people things, like summer, radio-friendly songs, and picturesque girls with smiling faces. With lyrics like, “Cut my brain into hemispheres/I wanna smash my face until there’s nothing but ears,” it makes for an unusual, but welcomed contrast that really perks up listeners’ ears. Perhaps the angriest song on Peripheral Vision is “Take My Head.” Ironically, it’s also the catchiest and most melodic song on the album, complete with a cheery guitar riff, upbeat drumming, and an anthemic chorus. Turnover has the innate ability to write incredibly straightforward and meaningful songs, which it should use it to its advantage. Mental illness could be discussed for hours, and on “Intrapersonal,” it could’ve been analyzed more seriously. Mental illness is very briefly touched on (manic depression, specifically). On “Intrapersonal” the lyrics feel rushed and vague, like, “I can’t see you beside me/In my peripheral vision/Always right there/Always aware.” They don’t leave the listener with much to latch onto. “Hello Euphoria” features some of the best musicianship the album has to offer, including mellow guitar riffs and repetitive but consistent drumming.Īlthough there are many great moments in Peripheral Vision, they don’t all hit quite as hard as the next. They are monotone, but still melodic and easy to sing along to. Getz’s vocals also add depth to the song. The influence of emo is obvious in “Hello Euphoria,” mostly because of the guitar work, which is intricate, but interesting and tasteful there is no over-playing on the track. The lyrics present a sense of impending doom, especially when Getz sings, “There’s really nothing like the first time/It’s a long way down when you’re falling and you miss cloud nine.” On “Hello Euphoria,” the dread of getting older and life passing by too quickly are mentioned, and listeners can see the great weight these things hold in Getz’s mind. Turnover’s singer and guitarist Austin Getz touches on these aspects of everyday life in Peripheral Vision as he explores his dilemmas and how to fix them.īreaking up with a romantic partner is a common theme in Peripheral Vision, and listeners often only get one side of the story, like with “I Would Hate You If I Could.” Getz is clearly upset that his lover never believed in their relationship, and he sings, “I knew you’d been telling all your friends that you’re done with me/Like you always knew things wouldn’t work out.” The lyrics express hurt, but they also come off bitter and angry when Getz sings, “And I’ve been hearing things from people that I don’t want to talk to/Like it matters who you’re sleeping with now.” It’s hard to not side with Getz on this one who wouldn’t feel upset after hearing their ex never believed in their relationship in the first place? Getz expertly immerses the listener in the song, leaving them feeling just as much grief as he once did. ![]() Dealing with a bad breakup or feeling lost and confused about life and its ever-morphing meaning are commonly feared.
